“The medicine and my efforts account for 10 percent of your overall healthcare, 90 percent of your overall healthcare rest with you and your lifestyle decisions” Himanshu Parikh
Dr. Parikh’s words are a refreshing sentiment in an age where Americans want to take a pill for everything. I have been a patient of Dr. Parikh for the last 10 years. I suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure and for years to my chagrin I subscribed to the “pill for everything” philosophy. It has been easy to intellectualize Dr. Parikh’s sentiments and still not deal with the underlying issues. My breakthrough came when Dr. Parikh sat me down and had a frank discussion about what I was doing to myself. He reasoned that I was not just hurting myself but I was hurting the people who loved and depended on me. My “Aha” moment!!!!
Suffice is to say, I respect and trust Dr. Parikh implicitly. He has become an ally and a friend in my healthcare successes. I consider him and his staff part of my extended family. I can only say that if I live to be 110 years old my hope would be that Dr. Parikh would live to be 110 years old plus one day: Thus, I would never live in a world where he was not my Doctor.
